Our Grades K-2 Workshop Themes
All About Animals
Discover the unique features of animals by examining teeth, claws and fur. Students will explore ways in which animals adapt to the challenging elements of their environment. Make your own animal tracks to take home!
Kids study the science of their insides by learning about the major systems of the human body. They learn about how their food is digested, how their blood flows through their bodies, and how their brain controls all of these parts.
Kids examine fossil casts and explore the differences in the teeth of herbivorous and carnivorous dinosaurs. Students participate in a mini dinosaur excavation and make a cast of a dinosaur tooth to take home.
Kids discover the invisible fields surrounding magnets with our iron filings. They devise and perform experiments to test magnetic strength.
The Wright Brothers would be proud as we follow in their footsteps and learn the principles of flight. Build a “football” glider, experiment with control surfaces, and make your very own loop-flying stunt plane. You’ll be a Top Gun after this class!
Students recreate the process of rock formation and devise ways to identify and classify rocks and minerals. They experience the thrill of panning for gems; the gems they find, they can take home for further study and investigation.
Playing with Polymers
Students discover the chemical and physical properties of plastics. They explore the plethora of physics principles that play a role in our daily lives.
Seeking our Senses
Kids explore all five senses. They test their vision with optical illusions, experiment with their hearing, and try their hand at reading braille.
Ooze into a gooey hour of sliming around! Create slime using the Mad Science recipe, and then enter your creation in the Slime Olympics! Take home your own concoction of Mad Science Slime!
Kids surf sound waves in this “offbeat” class. They will explore how sounds are created and transmitted.
Super Sticky Stuff
Stick to the walls, and push the power of tape to the limits in this adhesive hour on things that cling! Build a bond with glue and get attached to your very own suction ball.
Kids put on their lab coats and stick out their tongues, as they discover the delicious biology behind their taste buds.
